SITE SPECIFIC ...
We are setting out to make wines that tell a story about some pretty special Marlborough sites. These wines reflect the dedication of grape growers whose vineyards act as a beacon of an individual terroir.
Our growers all farm with organic and/or biodynamic principles and we believe it is our duty to maintain the integrity of these practices through the winemaking process. |
Hand-harvesting and sorting, whole berry/cluster ferments, fermentation with indigenous yeast, no fining nor filtration, are winemaking guidelines we trust to deliver a faithful vineyard expression.
Ultimately we approach our craft in the belief that farming is about working with the rhythms and the variables of a season - rather than to a schedule. So many elements are beyond our control - we merely react, adapt and seek to capture what each season provides us. |
Our inaugural release - the 2012 Corofin Pinot Noir from the Settlement Vineyard - found its way on to the lists and shelves of some very nice establishments around the world. More support than we could ever have imagined for a brand-new brand.
With the release of our 2013 vintage we introduced the Cowley Family Vineyard and from the 2015 vintage we were thrilled to add the Churton Vineyard, enabling us to shine the light on some of Marlborough's most exciting Pinot sites. |
CURRENT RELEASE, VINTAGE 2015
On the palate, the warmth and succulence of the East Slope’s clay-rich soils – which for us are hallmarks of this site – blend seamlessly with ripe red fruits. The balance and framework of the wine are woven together by a wonderful ripe and natural acidity which lends the wine freshness and energy.
2015 COROFIN MARLBOROUGH PINOT NOIR COWLEY FAMILY VINEYARD MAIN SLOPESWe feel privileged to be one of a handful of wineries working with fruit from the intriguing and meticulously managed Cowley Family Vineyard. For us, the Main Slopes Pinot clearly articulates its origins with wildly perfumed aromatics and a dense core of ripe black fruit. Lifted aromas of violets and crushed herbs lead to volume and saturated flavour on the palate, all framed by ripe meandering tannins.
2015 COROFIN MARLBOROUGH PINOT NOIR CHURTON VINEYARD CLOD BLOCKSet 200 metres above sea level, spanning a ridge line between the Omaka and Waihopai valleys, the Churton Vineyard is a unique Marlborough site. Close planted in rows that follow the natural contours of the land, this block is the embodiment of Sam & Mandy Weaver's intellect and their commitment to site expression. The dense clay soils of the Clod Block lend savoury structure to a vivid fruit core.
